Although art has always been a passion of Jenan’s since she was a little girl, her painting flourished after a series of life changing events enabled her to tap into the intuitive process behind the brush. Attending the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, SC through high school, and under the mentorship of talent Jim Campbell, she first experienced the beautiful beginnings of meditative creation. Campbell was a key influencer that relayed the message of art meeting the soul’s readiness and willingness to discover the true beauty within one’s work.
Always drawn to the water, Jenan attended College of Charleston and then later graduated from Clemson University. While working and living in the Caribbean for several years in international luxury real estate development, she spent the summers creating art programs for local island elementary school children. Throughout her travels in Anguilla, St. Lucia, and Jamaica she often found inspiration in her natural surroundings which governed many of her earlier works. She is inspired by the water - the calming yet powerful sustaining life force which she believes is universally inherent to all living beings.
Her recent body of work is strongly influenced by the surrounding salt marshes along the South Carolina coast where she currently resides. Her work is heavily textured and the rich vibrancy of her work is felt through the beautiful colors and lavish layers. She primarily works in acrylic and oil pastels.
Jenan lives in Mount Pleasant, SC with her husband Bryant, eight year old daughter Isla, and mini doodle, Goji.
